The horse 'Afjan' won the President's Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses at the Libyan stage, held the day before yesterday at the National Shooting and Equestrian Club's racetrack in Benghazi. This was the 16th stage of the 32nd season of the prestigious cup series. The races were organized as part of the second Libyan Heritage Carnival, with 96 horses representing the elite of Arabian horses in Libya participating. The total prize money for the race reached one million dirhams. The horse 'Afjan', from the lineage (TM Fred Texas x Mazoun) and owned by Zat al-Rimal stables, under the supervision of trainer Muhammad Farhat and jockey Amjad Ibrahim al-Salami, clinched the victory in the valuable cup. The race, held over a 2000-meter sand track, was open to horses aged four and above, with 13 of Libya's finest horses competing. The champion, a product of 'Shakb Racing', completed the race in a time of 2:26.00, securing his second title of the season following his previous win in the Netherlands. Second place went to 'Ghindoore de Buzol', while third place was claimed by 'Al-Atata', the winner of the previous stage in Morocco. Muslim Al-Amari, a member of the Higher Committee for the President's Cup for Arabian Horses, stated: 'The Libyan stage was a significant event by all measures and affirmed the success of the valuable cup's mission in reaching new destinations, emphasizing the leading role of the UAE in supporting the Arabian horse worldwide'.
