A Libyan prison director appeared before the International Criminal Court on Wednesday, accused of overseeing the killing, abuse, and torture of detainees. The charges are related to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
"He personally gave orders and supervised the torture," stated the prosecutor. According to him, the accused is directly responsible for the brutal treatment of prisoners in a Tripoli jail.
The court will examine evidence of the defendant's involvement in the systematic persecution and suppression of opposition during the rule of Muammar Gaddafi.
