Official Libyan sources reported the discovery of no less than 29 bodies of migrants in two different locations in the southeast and west of the country.
The search and rescue operation was launched following reports that several boats with migrants overturned in the coastal waters of Libya.
"So far, we have found 29 bodies of migrants, including women and children, in two different places," stated an official representative.
The eastern coast of Libya is often used as a route for migration across the Mediterranean Sea to Europe, and this frequently leads to tragic incidents.
